Services
The State Attorney
General's Chamber
All
drafting of legislation's, civil litigation involving the state government,
and Law revision and reprinting are the responsibility of the State
Attorney General's Chamber . The State Attorney General provides legal
advice to the State Government in matters of public interests, law
and order, judicial matters and to revise and reform laws. Also, the
Attorney General's Chamber conducts civil proceedings for and appears
on the behalf of the State Government in court, and deals with other
legal matters of the State Ministries and Departments.

Functions
To
deal with all civil matters in which the State Government is
a party, to act as the advocate in civil proceedings by or against
the State Government and to advise the various State Government
Ministries and Departments on all civil matters whenever such
advice is required.
To draft all legislation to be passed by the State Legislative
Assembly, subsidiary legislation, by-laws, regulations, orders,
instruments, State Government contracts and other legal documents
including the translation of draft legislation to be passed
by the State Legislative Assembly into Bahasa Malaysia.
To provide legal advice or opinion on all aspects of legal problems
of the various State Government Ministries or Departments, which
are referred to the Chambers for opinion or advice, and to give
advice to the State Public Service Commission on all disciplinary
and service matters.
To deal with the revision and reprint of all existing State
Laws by incorporating all the latest amendments.

Objectives
To
provide proper legal advice to the State Government and its
public officers to ensure that the machinery of the State Government
functions according to the law.
To ensure that all public officers of the State Government maintain
a high standard of awareness of the rule of law in carrying
out their official duties.
To uphold the principles of justice and fairness to all concerned
in accordance with principles of equality before the law and
equal protection of law as enshrined in the Federal Constitution.
To protect and safeguard the interest of the State Government
and the interest of the public against any illegal infringement
of their legal rights.
To secure enforcement of the law by the relevant law enforcement
authorities in the State in the interest of the public.
To carry out law revision and law reform from time to time to
ensure that the law be developed in keeping with changing circumstances.

Services
To provide legal advice and/or opinion to
all State Government Ministries and Departments.
To draft State legislation and subsidiary legislation including
orders, by-laws, rules, regulations, instruments, etc., and
other legal documents for all the State Ministries or Departments
and other State Government agencies.
To conduct all civil proceedings for the State Government in
the Magistrate's Courts, the Sessions Courts, the High Court,
Court of Appeal or the Federal Court.
To appear as advocate on behalf of the State Government in all
civil proceedings against the State Government or any State
Government officer in his official capacity.
To deal with any other legal matters of all State Government
Ministries and Departments.
