|
1998 official data shows that there were a total of 10,456 fishing
boats and 20,845 fishermen in the whole of Malaysia. Among this number,
there were only 3,663 licensed fishing gears.
Data is also available for salt and fresh water products over the
years. |
SALT
WATER
 From
statistics, Sabah fishery sector caught 160,328 tonnes of saltwater
fish in 1994. The figure inceased to 174,265 and 196,227 tonnes in
1997 and 1998 respectively. Please refer to the table for a detailed
break-down.
