Cabled Phone
Telecom Malaysia is the largest telecommunication service provider in Malaysia. Virtually all cabled phone and fax services in Sabah are provided by Telecom Malaysia.

Telephone Per Person
There are 186,480 and 210,121 telephone subscribers in Sabah in 1997 and 1998 respectively. Among the 212,121 subscribers, 144,931 are residential and 65,190 are business office subscribers. Among these, there are 87,927 lines registered to the International Subscribers dialing services. The subscribers are growing in a rate of around 15% to 20% in recent years. Based on the 1998 data, it is estimated at 13 people per phone line in Sabah.

Mobile Phone
The demand for mobile phones increased tremendously in recent years. The service providers for mobile phones are Celcom (010), Atur 450 (011), Maxis (012), TMTouch (013), Mutiara Telecom (016), Adams (017), Mobikom (018) and GSM Celcom (019).
