The
existing installed power capacity for West Coast Grid (WCG) is 293
MW. Stations that are connected to WCG are Kota Kinabalu, Keningau,
Beaufort, Tenom, and Labuan.
Based on the plan outlined by Sabah Electricity Board, several Independent
Power Plants are scheduled to generate additional supply of power
for WCG in stages as follow:
Planned Power Capacity for
Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP)
An independent power plant, owned by Powertron
Resources Sdn. Bhd., is scheduled to generate 120 MW of power capacity
exclusively for KKIP. The first 60 MW of power is proposed to be
on line in December 1996 and the balance of 60 MW in April 1997.
