the center of administration for this District was at Pensiangan,
70km to the South of Kota Kinabalu, the capital city of Sabah.
During the early 1970's, administration was transferred to a newly
established location named Nabawan.
Many people were encouraged to transfer and were given land under
the Nabawan Scheme.
the scheme was not very successful. This was partly due to poor planning
and also some of the traditional views held on by the people. After
a period of time some of the settlers left and returned to the Pensiangan
have yet to show much initiative for participation in development
