Domain Name Definition
A domain name is simply a textual address by which Internet users can find your
host machine on the Internet. It can be made up of your company name, brand name,
product name, trademark name, licensed name or other types of name.
It contains a few components separated by a period ("dot') such as www.companyname.sabah.com.my
The first item (www) is the hostname. The next item (companyname) is the fourth-level
domain name, and is registered with SabahNIC. The fourth item (com) is a second-level
domain name which describes the purpose of the entity who owns the fourth-level
name. The last item (my) is a top-level domain name representing a Malaysian location.
An organisation requesting for a domain name registration under MyNIC and SabahNIC
must have a local presence.
